One Yellow Rose!

By L. Don Oliver

While trimming the abundant weeds,

Before the event of Summer kind;

A very lovely Yellow Rose,

While weeding, I did find;

Where did it come from,

Mine not to reason why;

It was such a beautiful rose,

Enough to make this one sigh;

Not wishing to cut it down,

I trimmed around it's base;

I espied an industrious Honeybee,

Exiting it's lovely face;

The little Honeybee returned,

I let the Yellow Rose lie;

It's beauty to never be seen,

If I had caused it to die;
