PRESIDENT AND MRS.GOGUEPRESIDENT AND MRS.GOGUE

Welcome to Auburn for the start of another exciting and rewarding academic year on the Plains. Whether you spent the past few months working, traveling, spending time with family or taking classes, Susie and I hope you enjoyed the summer.

We are excited about the beginning of the fall term and hope you share our excitement. For returning students and those new to campus, Auburn has much to offer both in and out of the classroom.

If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to visit the new Student Center that opened just a few days ago and will serve as a hub for Auburn student life. This recently-completed addition to the Auburn landscape transforms the look of the central area of campus near Haley Center, Jordan-Hare Stadium and the Quad Residence Halls.

More importantly, it is the new home for student-led organizations and offers meeting spaces, a food court, a bike repair shop and other opportunities.

As we enjoy campus life and look forward to the start of another season of Tiger football, it is important that we all remember the guidelines and programs that exist to protect our personal safety and the safety of those around us. We take great comfort in knowing that our campus and the Auburn community is a place where people are friendly, welcoming and look out for each other. University public safety officers work closely with officials from the city of Auburn to ensure we have a secure environment for students, employees and visitors, and they are constantly working to upgrade and improve safety and security programs.

An updated Campus Safety Guide is available on our Web site at www.auburn.edu. As you are getting settled in for the semester, please take a few minutes to review the contact information, safety tips and descriptions of the various programs and services that are available for you.

It is a new year at Auburn. Welcome back, and War Eagle!
